How does FACET differ from other Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software?

FACET
was designed for one purpose, to assist Facilities Professionals in the automation of managing Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC) with Asset Tracking. Other software companies have chosen to combine the needs of Facilities Professionals with property owners which in out opinion dilutes the effectiveness of the product.

For example, we do not know of any software company who produces a product that emphasizes how to plan a move in 3 easy steps. In addition, most rely on AutoCad as the mapping tool which was originally designed for Architects and is an extremely feature rich product requiring months of training.

How many people can FACET store?

You are limited by the size of the database. In the case of FACET that is 1,700,000 people.

Can multiple people use FACET at the same time?

Yes, many people can be working with FACET; however, only 1 person can be working on a particular record at a time. For example, 2 people cannot be changing a person's requirements simultaneously.

Do I have total flexibility in how I name assets?

Absolutely. You decide if you want to call a desk, “6 feet, Grey, 2 Draw, Make, Color”, or any combination of descriptors you require. In addition, FACET will remember this naming convention for future use, making it easy to analyze assets later. You can also designate classes of assets; for example, “Furniture, Wall Hangings” or “Desks, Chairs, Tables etc”.

Do I have to enter names as “first, middle and last”?

No. You decide what is the normal convention for your organization.

How do I enter so much information in the beginning?

These are many ways to initially enter the bulk of the information in the beginning. As most Facilities Professionals have much of the information within small databases or Excel spreadsheets, simply send that information to us at the time of purchase and we will import it for you and test the system to ensure accuracy at no additional charge.

Or, you can, at a later date import additional information yourself using the handy import wizard that is included. Or you can manually type the information in over a period of time.

What type of computer and software do I need to run FACET?

Obviously the faster your computer the better will be the performance; however, we advise our clients to run FACET on no less than a Pentium® III 350 with 128 Mb of RAM. In addition, you will need to install Windows 2000® or later operating system and Visio 2002® or later.

Describe the fundamental terminology used by FACET.

There are 2 terms used by FACET with which you will have to familiarize yourself. Namely, Occupants have REQUIREMENTS and Spaces have ATTRIBUTES . For example, an occupant will require a desk, chair, filing cabinet, computer, phone, etc. A space may have some or all of these attributes.

Do I have to have a color printer?

No, but it helps for differentiating between departments and divisions and emergency maps. If a color printer is not available, you may wish to occasionally save a map to disk and allow an outside service bureau to print maps for you.

How long does it take to become proficient?

We estimate you will become proficient after 4 hours of use. This is the hardest part of designing a business tool such as FACET. We spent many months interviewing Facilities Professionals and Space Planners to create the most logical and intuitive user interface.

For example, planning a move has been engineered into 3 easy steps. First, identify who is moving from where to where. Second, ask FACET if the attributes of the space equal the occupants requirements. (If not, you will be presented with options). Third, print out the move instruction packets for the move contributors.

In addition to the on-line help that is always available, FACET also comes with a unique feature called ScenarioHelp™. ScenarioHelp provides you with step by step guidance for all tasks. For example, planning a move, changing space attributes, defining department or divisional colors, etc. Finally you can email us. We are pleased to receive positive feedback from you as we continuously try to improve  FACET.

What type of after sales support can I expect?

From the time of delivery of FACET, you will receive unlimited email support with phone augmentation, if required, for 30 days. You will be encouraged to subscribe to the FACET Update & Support (U&S) program to enable you to receive ongoing support and free product updates as they are developed.

Product updates will include bug fixes, small enhancement and new reports generated for our other Clients. The cost of FACET U&S is 20% of the license fee and paid annually.
